PU VC pays tribute to Pakistan’s liberator, protectors

LAHORE: (Thursday, August 14, 2025): Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali, has said that on the 78th anniversary of Pakistan, we pay tribute to the benefactors who liberated the country in 1947 and protected its freedom on May 10, 2025.

He was addressing the flag hoisting ceremony held outside PU admin block, regarding Independence Day celebrations. On this occasion, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood, Registrar Dr Ahmad Islam, deans, faculty members, officers, employees, students and families were present.

The VC unfurled the flag and released the pigeons. In his address, Prof Dr Muhammad Ali said that today is a day of renewal of commitment in which we pledge that as long as we are alive, we will not hesitate to make any sacrifice to protect our country, nation and faith. He said that we are grateful to Allah Almighty on this occasion that He has granted us a great victory in Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos and we have emerged as a great nation. He said that after May 10, Pakistan is moving towards a bright future with full strength and will unite to bring prosperity. He said that we pledge that if Allah Almighty grants us this honor, we will accept martyrdom to protect the country. He said that the emotions of those participating in the I-Day ceremony in rain and bad weather are commendable. He said that we should participate in every ceremony for the independence of Pakistan with patriotic fervor. We are and will remain a living nation, he added. He said that technology and economic development are necessary to make Pakistan prosperous, which is possible only through education. He said that the role of universities is important in the development of education, in which the PU is playing a leading role.
